About us

WildHealth C.I.C. is a not-for-profit initiative integrating medicine and conservation in the rainforests of Papua New Guinea, Britain's national parks, and beyond. We have project collaborators and co-investigators worldwide (for details see individual project pages), and are chaired by Dr Jo Middleton.

Our structure and objects

WildHealth C.I.C. (company number 16118757) is a Community Interest Company (CIC), a UK legal structure for organisations founded for community benefit, not profit. We have no shareholders. All funds received or generated through our work are used to support our registered objects:

'to carry on activities which benefit the community, particularly (though not limited to) marginalised populations, indigenous forest peoples, and those far from pre-existing medical support systems, by (without limitation) (i) improving access to health and emergency care, and (ii) safeguarding natural systems underpinning human health.'

CIC's are subject to compulsory asset locks that cannot be removed. This means if a CIC is wound up or dissolved, all assets are transferred to a CIC or charity with similar objectives, with the recipient body specified at the CIC's incorporation. In our case this is Survival International Charitable Trust, which since 1969 has worked 'with indigenous and tribal peoples around the world to help them defend their lives, protect their lands, and determine their own futures.'

Buy medicines for indigenous peoples defending New Guinea's rainforests

WildHealth C.I.C. administers a fund for Wanang Conservation Area's clinic in Papua New Guinea. Any amount large or small can make a real difference to health and conservation in the Ramu rainforest.

100 percent of money received is spent on medicines for the clinic. This provides health services for previously medically neglected forest communities who are conserving 150 square kilometres of biodiverse rainforest, storing 1.5 million tonnes of carbon.
